Practical Driving Tests in Kent

Practical Driving Test Certificate
Our intensive driving courses do not include the practical driving test, you will need to book this yourself after speaking to your instructor. Obviously we can't guarantee test availability but if you speak to your instructor before starting your intensive driving course they will be able to advise you about how far in advance you should be looking to book.

Booking your test

Your instructor will be able to help you with any questions you may have about booking your test. If you want to use the instructor's car for your test then please speak to them in advance so that you can check their availability. When booking you will need the instructor's ADI reference number, which they will be able to give you. Before booking your practical test you will need your provisional dirving licence, theory pass certificate and a credit or debit card.

What should I bring to my test?

When doing your practical driving test you must bring your theory certificate and your complete driving licence (photocard and paper counterpart). Without these documents they will not let you take your test and you will lose the cost of the test as well. As well as the documents we always recommend bringing a drink for before the test.

What happens in the test?

The first thing you will have to do is an eyesight check, which consists of reading a number plate from 20 metres. If you can not do this you will fail your test. Next you will be asked one 'tell me' question and one 'show me' question. Your instructor will have covered all of this in advance as part of your intensive driving course so you will be fine! You can find a list of the possible questions on our questions and answers page.

Once these first two parts are out of the way the actual driving segment of the test lasts about 40 minutes and as well as monitoring your general driving the examiner will ask you to do a hill start and one reversing manoeuvre. Again after having done your intensive driving course you will be well practised in all of these manoeuvres.

As with your theory test you will be given the results of your practical driving test straight after you have completed it at the test centre. For more information on the practical driving test including links to resources please use the following link:
